Ruud van Dijck, shop shell design
Expanded because of great success.
An average sized shop on the Wilhelminastraat in Breda was significantly expanded. The project developer had the garden at the back of the current location dug up and covered. This created a much
larger, deeper and higher space of 236 m2. He also connected two adjacent premises. In one go, Breda had the premises of a shop with a New York feel.
OUR CLIENT’S DREAM
Skins has already been in Breda for 12 years. As it has been so successful, we needed to expand, but finding a suitable location was a challenge. Until the project developer approached us with this location. Incredibly, it is three times as large. We have all the space we need for the complete Skins concept.
Everything about this location is big. The open area connecting the two premises was enclosed with a large glass façade. This not only retains the visual elements, but also allows for better climate control while reducing noise. The different levels, traditionally seen as a disadvantage in the retail environment, was turned into an advantage.
The elegant design staircase now acts as a theatrical entrance while serving as a display. The Skins wall leads you from the entrance, along the staircase, into the depths of the shop. Plenty of daylight floods the shop from all sides.
