Technische Dienst De L’Europe
Hotel de l’Europe is a household name. It is one of Amsterdam’s most beautiful 5* hotels. The hotel lies on the Amstel across from the Munttoren. In addition to the 111 rooms and the two star Michelin restaurant Bord d’Eau, it is home to Hoofdstad Brasserie and the legendary Freddy’s bar. Named after the late proprietor and ‘regular’ Freddy Heineken.
WISHES OF THE CLIENT
We want to offer our guests even more and that is why we would like to have a luxury Spa in our hotel. Next to the 4 treatment rooms, there must be space for a Turkish bath, saunas, a gym and a swimming pool. The Skins Institute will decide on the interior in addition to running this Spa.
As house designer for the ‘Skins’ formula, I was asked by the Skins Institute to also design the Skins Institute Spa. Gold reflects top quality, exclusivity and luxury. It also has a warm look & feel. And, coincidentally, it is also the favourite material of Paulina Moes, founder and owner of Skins Institute. It is already used in the house-style.
In the light and transparent space, the gold columns are the backbone of the spa. They separate the swimming pool from the reception area and lead the guests to the treatment area. The treatment area has intimate warm tones and materials. Each room is subtly and softly lit by a light wall.
LEADING SPA OF THE WORLD
Skins Institute was recently awarded a place in the Top 3 best spas in Amsterdam. Within a couple of months of its opening, the ‘Leading Spas of the World’ accredited Skins Institute for its excellent quality of treatments, its choice of products and its design. Skins Institute was the first spa in the Benelux to receive this accolade.
