THE LOCATION
The property dates from 1912 and is quite dark because of the closed side wall and the relatively small windows. However, the location, next to the water, is fantastic. It has a garden and unrestricted views of the park.

WISHES OF THE CLIENT
The house can be completely stripped and redesigned as our new family home. Given its exclusive location, one viable option is to add as many extra square metres as possible. This should definitely be on the cards.

ROY’S VISION
A glass extension may be fitted to the side wall. This will create an abundance of daylight. The 100 m2 basement will be excavated to create an additional floor. This will become the utility areas. The ground floor will be the living space, while the bedrooms and bathrooms will be on the next level. High windows will be fitted on the garden side of this floor, giving unrestricted views and the impression that the park is within reach. To retain the building’s character, brick piers were extended between the windows and carefully replaced.
